Imphal, September 21: Meira paibis of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai and Yumnam Leikai staged a sit-in-protest at the Tabung Pukhri Mapal building of NLC today to condemn the bomb attack at the Sinam Leikai residence of one Nandeibam Karunacharja.

N Karunacharja is the Superintending Engineer of Irrigation and Flood Control Department (Khuga Project Circle).

According to police report, miscreants lobbed and exploded the bomb in the intervening night of September 20-21 .

However, there is no report of the explosion claiming life or causing injury.

Taking a grim note of such dangerous acts in thickly populated areas, Tabung Pukhri Mapal Nupi Khut, Yumnam Leikai Meira paibi Lup, NLC and Thangmeiband Improvement Club called upon all concerned to refrain from such activities in the future.

Demanding that UG group/s, if any, involved in the criminal act identify themselves and clarify why the attack was launched, the local organisations also highlighted that the attack had caused fear psychosis among the populace.

On the otherhand, sit-in-protest was also staged at Kakwa today to denounce the abduction of IFCD's cashier Ningombam Subol (53) on September 15 .

Subol was released some hours after the abduction bid as police swung into action to rescue the individual.
