Imphal, August 12: In unrelated incidents one suspected rebel has been slain by Thoubal district police commandos as security forces arrested six persons, including three women who "were found transporting large number of ammunition.

Out of two youths con fronted by Thoubal police commandos deployed on frisking and checking duty at Wangbal Khangabok Moirang Palli Road yester day at around 8 pm one has been shot dead while the other managed to escape, said SP (Thoubal) Clay Khongsai in a statement issued today.

The frisking party asked the duo to stop but came under firing from the unidentified persons who attempted to escape, the statement informed while adding that after retaliatory firing and hot chase one got killed at near Wangbal Agriculture Office.

A Chinese made hand grenade has been recovered from the deceased it added.

Thoubal district commandos also arrested a harbourer of the outlawed PREPAK namely Ningthoujam Marjit Singh (34) s/o N Pena Singh of Heirok Partt-II Bazar from Thoubal Bazar at around 7:30 am today.

The three women were apprehended by Narcotics Cell personnel and commandos of Imphal West district from near Manipur University Gate, Canchipur on August 9 and seized 628 rounds of .303 ammunition, said a statement issued by SP(IW)L Kaiiun.

The trio, who were coming in a Tata Spacio (MN01K/5586) from Moreh, were stopped for checking near the MU Gate, at around 1.30 pm and further search of the vehicle led to the seizure of the unauthorised ammunition, the SSP added.

The three have been identified as Ningkholam Haokip (40) w/o Thangjamang of Moreh Ward No 5, Miss Lamkho chang Haokip (18) d/o Thangjamang and Mrs Hatkhoneng (37) w/o Limkhojang Habkip of Singhat Churachandpur district.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal East district corrtmando and troops of 32 Assam rifles, apprehended a PULF cadre namely, Md Kutubudin alias Dinson alias Hussain (26) s/o (L) Md Angou of Khurai Heigruma-khong from Palace Gate at around 6:30 pm yesterday.

Kutubuddin joined PULF organisation last year through one Wahab and was involved in extortion of money from the general public for party fund, added a release of Imphal East SP Th Radheshyam Singh.

In another statement, SP (IE) informed of the district police commandos and troops of 32 Assam Rifles arresting a KCP cadre identified as Okram Boinao alias Ibomcha Singh (27) s/o O Jwphori Singh of Khong man Okram Chuthek from Khongman Mangjil at around 6 am today.

Boinao is said to have joined KCP through one S/ SSgt Maj Leingakpa in Feb ruary 2007 .
