Imphal, July 11: The proscribed UNLF and KYKL have hailed the decision of the womenfolk of Heirok for voicing their opposition to the setting up of SPO.

In a joint statement the two outfits however said that the resolution adopted in the public meeting held on July 8 to either set up a Heirok Protection Force or a Village Volunteer Force in place of the SPO is vague and not clear.

Just urging for a change of nomenclature from SPO to either Heirok Protection Force or Village Volunteer Force is fraught with doubts and uncertainty said the two outfits, maintaining that the agenda of setting up the SPO is nothing less than to let the people kill each other.

Such a decision has no substance but just a change in the name, maintained UNLF and KYKL and added that there is no change in the hidden agenda.

The need of the hour is to realise the situation in the land collectively and to protect it unitedly.

It is important that the womenfolk of Heirok understand this point, said the statement.

Taking into consideration the appeal of the womenfolk as well as to give them more time to come out with a coherent decision, the outfits said that all the restrictions placed on the people of Heirok are relaxed for ten days with immediate effect.

On the other hand there is the need to differentiate between the people of the land and the pretenders who have sold out their soul to the enemy, said the two outfits and observed that the womenfolk of Heirok too have a responsibility towards identifying such elements.

The two outfits also urged the womenfolk of Heirok to shoulder their responsibilities for the sake of the land.
