Imphal, July 10: Taking serious note of the warning given by UNLF and KYKL to the people of Heirok, Chief Minister today chaired a meeting attended by Heirok A/C MLA M Oken to discuss security measures being taken up by the Government.

Chief Secretary Rakesh and DGP Y Joykumar were also present during the meeting.

Besides security measures, the meeting also discussed the developmental works being taken up by the Government in Heirok.

To ensure proper medical care of the people, the meeting decided that doctors and paramedical staff from the BSF camp at Heirok would be roped in to run the hospital.

It is said that though the Government has not yet received any representation in written from the side of Heirok people stating categorically that they do not want SPO posts or want some other alternative force, nonetheless, the Government would decide what possible steps could be taken up if such demands were raised.

Khuga dam : IFC Minister N Biren has today stated that is no need to fear by the people over spilling of water from the breached canal of Khuga dam.

Talking to The Sangai Express from New Delhi, the Minister said that the eastern canal of the dam which was breached yesterday during trial run has in fact been under reparation for a long time and necessary repairing work would be done after several round of trial run.
