Imphal, August 10: Hailing the exemplary conduct demonstrated by the people of Manipur in times of adversity, the United Committee Manipur today stated that the resilience and the unity shown by the people will defeat the agenda to tamper with the territory of Manipur.

In a statement UCM today said that it is the level headedness and maturity shown by the people which will defeat the agenda to compromise with the territory of Manipur.

Taking pot shots at the Centre, UCM said that the people of Manipur will not be fooled by the antics of the Indian Government which air lifted 40 tonnes of essential items for the 24 lakh population of the Station.

The Centre deemed it fitter to remain silent spectator even though a number of vehicles were burnt on the highway and the Irang bridge was dismantled right under the nose of the security personnel.

UCM also reminded all that a number of drivers were hurt while ferrying in goods and blasted the Centre for just looking on and enjoying the show.

This is nothing but another manifestation of the divide and rule policy being pursued by the Centre.

Even though the UPA has included in its Common Minimum Programme that the territories of the NE States will not be changed it has included the agenda of breaking up Manipur in the peace talk with the NSCN (IM), added the statement.

The people need to take a united stand to defeat the communal politics being pursued by the Government of India, said UCM and added that the Government of India should be held solely responsible for the economic blockade imposed on the two highways.

If ANSAM has lifted the economic blockade without any agenda to break up Manipur then it (ANSAM) is stepping on the right path said UCM and added due pressure will be mounted on the Government to repair the offices which were damaged during the agitation.

Sounding a stern warning, UCM said that if the PM of India takes up any action that is inimical to the interest of Manipur, then strong agitation will be launched.
