Imphal, January 24: Agriculture Minister in the Congressled SPF Government Pheiroijam Parijat has remarked that it is to the credit of the CPI that the Government has been able to complete its full term.

Due to frequent petty infighting among the Congress MLAs, the SPF Government was on the verge of a breakdown on numerous occasions but it was with the strong support and mediation of the CPI that the Government survived, he said while addressing a reception function hosted in his honour at Irabot Memorial Park at Challou today.

The reception function was organised after Parijat filed his nomination paper to for second-phase polling to the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held on February 14 from Lamlai Assembly Constituency as CPI candidate.

He also clarified that the fertilisers seized at Moreh some months back do not belong to him.

It belonged to one Congress MLA, he added.

A large number of people who came to participate in the reception function also brought along with them a huge quantity of paddy, rice, cereal, sugar and other essential ration items.

The estimated amount of the ration items which include 567 shacks of paddy and 50 kgs of rice is said to be around Rs 5 lakhs.

Appreciating the support and the overwhelming response of the people during the reception function, Parijat hoped that the electors would exercise their franchise in electing their right candidate who has his own principles.
