Shillong based Hospital offers help to Heirok victim

Imphal, May 18: Even as the State Government has failed to extend any kind of help to W Rebika who sustained grievous injuries to both her eyes during the Heirok firing incident of March 23, Shillong based Baouri Natralaya Hospital run by a charitable trust has offered to bear all the expenditures required to treat the young girl.

Because of the injury she sustained on the fateful day, W Rebika has lost both her eye sights.

Rebika and her family will be leaving for Shillong tomorrow.

Seeing the economic hardships of Rebika's family, Royal Riders, Manipur has also donated Rs 10,000 to the family.

Rebika, her parents and a member of the Heirok JAC will leave Imphal for Shillong tomorrow.

Seized tobacco items burnt : Activists of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Khoyathong seized 122 packets of talab and another 10 packets of zarda from the possession of two women at Khoyathong Motbung Parking at around 3.30 pm today.

a member of the women's organisation quoted the two women as saying that the tobacco items were brought from Senapati for delivery at a shop in North AOC.

The shop-owner named as one Pougel normally pays Rs 100 to 150 as carrier charge.

Identifying the two women carriers as Yainu Kipgen w/o Thangloi Kipgen and Uma Bista w/o Kumar Bista both from Kangpokpi.
