Bombs at Dr Mohen's quarters

Imphal, July 05: Police yesterday morning retrieved three bombs suspected to be delivered by armed persons, two from the official-residence of Medical Superintenient of RIMS Dr Y Mohen and another in between LYS Steel and Cement shop and N Kumar's furniture house located near the police station at Kwakeithel Makha Thiyam Leikai.

The two bombs at the official residence of Dr Mohen were detected at around 7.30 am and were later retrieved by the bomb experts of the Police Department.

On the other hand, a bomb which was found at Kwakeithel was detected at around 4 am by the early morning joggers.

It is suspected that the bomb may have been left in connection with monetary demands.

Protesting the placing of the bomb,people of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C and Sagolband A/C today staged a Wakat Meepham near the police station at Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai.

Talking to mediapersons, the protestors informed that on June 11 last, a demand note of Rs 20 lakhs signed by one Wanglen Khuman of KCP was served to LYS Steel and Cement shop and another demand note of Rs 5 lakhs to the N Joykumar's Furniture House.

At the time of hand�ing over the demand notes, a mobile phone number was also given for communication.

However, as the demanded amount were not to the capacity of the shop owners, no contact had been made.

So, the hand grenade may have been placed as a threat.
