Imphal, May 31 2010: Manipur hills witnessed today some hot protest against the government of Manipur with numerous violent activities with security forces vehicles damaged and District Councils candidates houses dismantled.

At Tamei in Tamenglong district, at least three vehicles of the IRB were pushed off from the IT Road and damaged 10 others.

According to reports received, security forces personnel along with polling personnel were heading toward Tamenglong headquarters along the IT Road when the people of Tamei area on hearing the news gathered at Tamei and attempted to prevent from proceeding.

In order to break the barrier, the security forces personnel mostly the IRB cadres opened blank fires which infuriated the people.

The people turned mob and pushed down three vehicles of the security forces personnel in the gorge while damed 10 other vehicles of the security forces.

Reports said that some security forces personnel got hurt in the incident which occurred at around 5 am.

Meanwhile, houses of five Congress candidates of the District Councils have been dismantled by the people in Ukhrul district today.

Reports said that the incidents were related to the Naga peoples' protest against te holding of elections to the District Councils under the present status.
