Imphal, May 25 2010: All Nagas are not supporters of NSCN (IM) said state consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister Y Irabot today while expressing the need for finding a way to end the economic blockade on the national highways considering the suffering received by people as a whole.

The minister who weighed in making the NH-53 as main lifeline of the people of the state has said this when members of the United Clubs and Meira Paibis met with him at his residence today.

In the meeting, members of the body expressed their willingness to improve the conditions of road and bridges on the NH-53 and make it as main lifeline of the people of the state.

While relating their plan to march a rally from Imphal to Jiribam on foot on this stretch, they sought the corporation of the minister.

Irabot assured the gathering that he will extend full corporation in organising the rally by participating himself in the rally.

But he urged the members to discuss thoroughly before fixing the date on which the rally starts.

Members praised the minister on his courageous reply.

Womenfolk taking part in the meeting expressed their willingness to make a lifeline of the state sorts of all disturbances and state could protest themselves without depending on others state.

The NH-53 would be the only route, they added.

While the meeting was in progress, another group of womenfolk of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak marched to the residence by shouting slogans like, "Y Irabot is the great minister of Manipur".

Further speaking to the gathering people, minister said that government is arranging for distribution vehicle fuel and other petroleum products to the people from tomorrow.

LPG gas and essential items will also be distributed to the people.

He further observed that the delay in the procurement of essential items on the NH-53 was due to the bad attitudes of some vested interest persons.

People should understood this when the order for procurement of essential commodities on Guite road was issued, he added.

In the state more than 38,000 personnel of central security establishments with another 30,000 state security personnel are deploying.

It is nothing to guard the NH-53, the minister added.
