Imphal, February 16: One individual who used to transport goods and clothes for UG cadres but later turned an informer of security forces was shot dead by the proscribed PREPAK today.

The accused identified as Takhellambam Sanamani alias Mani (37) s/o late Yaima of Kumbi Wapokpi was pulled up by PREPAK cadres from his home at about 9.30 pm yesterday.

Parading Sanamani before media persons at a location in Chandel district before he was awarded capital punishment today, a spokesperson of the outfit's Home Department said that following information that Sanamani has been acting as informer to security forces in the guise of a rickshaw puller, a special investigation was launched into his activities.

In the course of the investigation, Sanamani was pulled up and questioned during which it was confirmed that he was acting as an informer of security forces. According to the disclosure of the Sanamani himself, he was provided a mobile phone (9856569115) by one AR officer identified as Songte posted in Kumbi Setupur on October 7 last year.

After communicating with Sanamani, Songte pulled up one Tomchou s/o Ningthoukhong Muba on the charge of being a UNLF cadre.

Then on the false information provided by Sanamani, AR pulled one Premkumar belonging to his locality on the charge of being a PREPAK cadre.

As per the tacit understanding between Sanamani and the AR officer, Sanamani was given Rs 5000 each for every individual pulled up.

Pronouncing that Sanamani will be awarded capital punishment for his crime, the spokesperson also warned three/four other individuals who worked together with Sanamani in his anti-party activities to surrender to the outfit within three days.

In case they fail to pay heed to the warning, they will be awarded capital punishment, added the spokesperson.

Sanamani said that he used to transport goods and clothes for UG cadres before he came in contact with AR officer Songte.

Soon after he came to a tacit understanding with the AR officer, Sanamani helped AR pulled up one RPF cadre and another UNLF cadre from Kumbi, he confided.

For the information he provided to AR which led to the arrest of the RPF and UNLF cadres, Sanamani was given Rs 11000 .

Further, he went together with AR personnel and identified the homes of four/five individuals including a PREPAK cadre in Kumbi Wapokpi.

For this he was given Rs 2500 .

Moreover, Songte once came to the house of Sanamani and raped his wife for which he was given Rs 2500, disclosed the informer.
