Threat to Naharolgi Thoudang
AMWJU places onus on CM, SP

Imphal, May 12: In the aftermath of the act of intimidation perpetrated by a group led by one Laishram Haridas who claimed to be a commando personnel in the office of the Naharolgi Thoudang, anonymous callers have been issuing threats including physical threats to the editor of the Naharolgi Thoudang daily, said an AMWJU release.

On May 6, AMWJU held a meeting on the matter and intimated the same to the SP, Imphal West district.

Clarifying that Haridas was not a commando personnel but a civilian, the SP assured that Haridas would be pulled up very soon.

On the same night, Haridas got shot mysteriously and was admitted to Shija Hospital.

On the next day, Haridas was taken to AIIMS, Delhi for treatment.

Even as Haridas is reportedly undergoing treatment at Delhi, threats calls were made through mobile phone number 9864785014 reportedly used by Haridas earlier, said AMWJU.

The act of intimidation followed after a report was published in some local dailies about the raid undertaken by a team of Imphal West commandos in Room no.403 of the Kolkata Manipur Bhavan on April 24 .

In compliance with the desire of the commando team, the Naharolgi Thoudang published a follow-up clarification on April 29 .

In the light of the above facts, the Chief Minister and the SP of Imphal West should be hld responsible for any untoward incident that may occur in the future, added AMWJU.
