Cabinet extends DDA, IMC areas spared

Imphal, November 22: Along with approval of declaring Disturbed Area status for one more year in all part of Manipur with exception to Imphal Municipality areas, a meeting of the State Cabinet today has agreed appoint the son of CDPO Rasheshori who was shot dead by KCP (MC) recently to the post of SI in Police Department.

According to a Minister of the SPF Government, the Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh approved extension of Disturbed Area status to all parts of Manipur excluding Imphal Municipality for one year with effect from November 30.The Cabinet also decided to review the declaration if the law and order situation in the State improves within 6 months.

However, if there is no improvement, then the declaration would remain effective for one complete year all over the State with exception to Imphal Municipality area, the Cabinet Minister said.

Over and above reviewing the prevailing law and order situation of the State, the Cabinet meeting also facilitated special discussion on the violent incidents in market area of Imphal and find out whether any MR, IRB and Commando personnel have nexus with militants or not.

Today's the Cabinet meeting also held discussion on the ground rules laid down in connection with the proposed Suspension of Operation to be signed by the Govt with the Kuki outfits operating in the State.

Moreover, the Cabinet meeting approved appointment of Ningtam Saikhom, son CDPO Saikhom Rasheshori who was recently shot dead by armed cadre of KCP (MC), as an SI in the Police Department under Die-in-Harness scheme by effective some relaxation for one time in the rules.
