Imphal, April 18 2010: Following the All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM)'s blockade, atleast 270 vehicles including inter-state passenger buses are still stranded at Khuzuma in Nagaland along the National Highway (NH) 39 on Sunday.

However, most of the passengers of inter-state buses reached Imphal by ferrying taxis due to ANSAM's intensified agitation and the buses left for Imphal too as the buses were allowed to pass without any passenger, as per an official source.

Among the 270 stranded vehicles, 242 were goods loaded trucks, eight oil tankers, 10 DI Tata vehicles, 7 lorry trucks and 3 inter-state buses, according to police source.

No passenger buses left Imphal for outside-the-state destinations today.

There were no untoward incidents from any part of Manipur due to the intensified blockade till the filing of this story.

The Naga students' body has resolved to intensify the ongoing agitation in all the highways for another 7 days with effect from midnight of April 17 by including the interstate buses within the purview of the blockade.

"We also have resolved to intensify our agitation until the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council (Third amendment) Act 2008 is nullified," warned the ANSAM leaders.
