Jiribam, July 20 2010: The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur has set July 25 as the deadline for the State Government to withdraw its decision of entrusting PWD with the task of development of National Highway No-53, failing which intense agitation would be launched.

The Union also asserted that the Government shall be held responsible for any untoward incident that occurs during the period of agitation.

Meanwhile, the CHIKIMS Human Rights Forum, Jiri Zone has condemned alleged reign of terror unleashed by cadres of the armed United Tribal Liberation Army.

The Forum contended that activists of the outfit had been committing atrocities against the people in parts of Tamenglong district and Vangai Range of Churachandpur district since the past few weeks.

It also held the UTLA responsible for the abduction of one Thangkhai kipgen on July 16 .

Thangkhai Kipgen was later released, the Forum added and expressed hope that for the common good the armed outfit would desist from activities detrimental to peaceful living.
