Imphal, November 15: Following an understanding arrived with Chief Minister O Ibobi, the family members of late Moirang CDPO Yangambam Ningol Saikhom ongbi Rasheswari shot dead by KCP (MC) at her office room yesterday has claimed the corpse today.

The understanding was brought during a meeting between family members, local people of Haobam Marak Keisam Leikai, Social Welfare Minister N Loken and Chief Minister O Ibobi at the latter's office chamber this afternoon.

A memorandum urging for three different points was also submitted to the Chief Minister.

The points of the memorandum were the resolutions adopted during a public meeting held yesterday at Haobam Marak Keisam Leikai.

The demands highlighted in the memorandum include provision of a job to a member of Rasheswari's family under die-in-harness scheme, extension of full pay to the bereaved family until such time she should retire and payment of ex-gratia.

Coming out from the meeting, Social Welfare Minister N Loken told reporters that ex-gratia amount will be provided before the shrada ceremony of the deceased and a suitable job will be provided to a son of the deceased under die-in-harness scheme.

To a query about the security measures for the officials of Social Welfare Department in the wake of the killing of CDPO Rasheswari, Minister Loken, without going into details, said that several precautionary measures have been taken up in consultation with the Home Department.

He also denounced the practice of levelling allegations posthumously after killing a person.

On their way to the official residence of the Chief Minister, the family members of Rasheswari and the local people held placards and festoons which read as, "Don't make false accusations after killing; We condemn the rule by guns; Kill us together at a time instead of killing us one after another; Let there be no Government nor insurgents; What was our my mother's fault; Provide us weapons; We don't want the freedom espoused by killers; We condemn killing innocent women in the name of insurgency etc".

Stating that his mother was a humble employee who preferred going to office by bus over using Government vehicle allotted to her, Rasheswari's youngest son Saikhom Ningtamba while decrying the act of heaping different against his mother after killing her, appealed to other UG groups to ascertain the truths of the matter.

After the meeting with the Chief Minister during which the demands were broadly agreed, the corpse was claimed by family members from RIMS morgue.

Before the taking the mortal remains to her home, it was taken to Social Welfare Dept office where employees and officials of the Dept paid their last respect to the departed officer.

Meanwhile, the Jiribam Branch of the All Manipur Anganwadi mahila Organisation has condoled the demise of Rasheswari.

It also appealed to all the Anganwadi workers and helpers under Jiribam ICDS Project to suspend work tomorrow.
