Imphal, October 11 2009: Contrary to the stand of the Chief Minister that the Nagaland Government has not constructed any rest house in Jessami, the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, who conducted a spot inquiry, has backed the report in the media, which stated that the neighbouring State had constructed two rest houses at Jessami, besides stationing the Nagaland Armed Police inside the State territory.

The report of the DC was submitted to the State Government today.

The Ukhrul DC has also submitted a suggestion that the matter be resolved at the level of the DC and SP of Phek district of Nagaland and their Ukhrul counterparts.

Speaking to The Sangai Express, a well placed source said that the report of the DC was submitted today, after the officer led a team to Jessami to get a first hand account of the situation there yesterday.

The DC in his report stated that the story of encroachment at Jessami by Nagaland, as published in the State papers was right.

The officer also took photographs of the rest houses, which have come up on the side of Manipur, said the source.

Ironically, Chief Minister O Ibobi, while addressing the media on Friday had maintained that the Nagaland Government had not constructed any rest house at Jessami.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister had earlier questioned on what basis the BSF had handed over their barracks to the Nagaland Armed Police and the same poser had been raised to the Union Home Minister.

The Nagaland Chief Secretary had explained that the NAP had occupied the barrack on the suggestion of the BSF to look after it.
