Imphal, June 11: After an agreement with the Government, the bodies of Thangjam Tiken of Khurai Puthiba Leikai and Laishram Momocha alias Suresh of Naoremthong Laishram Leikai who were shot dead by a combined force of Imphal West Police Commandos and 32 Assam Rifles during an alleged encounter at Langthabal Meetei Lamkhai on the night of June 9 have been taken away by their respective family members after post-mortem at RIMS today.

However, ahead of the agreement, as announced earlier the JAC formed against the killing of Thangjam Biren blocked Imphal-Ukhrul Road since early morning today and closed down Lamlong Bazar for the second consecutive day in protest.

As a result of the road block, vehicular movement along Imphal-Ukhrul Road remained affected until the police arrived and removed all the barricades.

Later on, the JAC organised a Wakat Meepham at Lamlong Bazar.

Meanwhile, the JAC has warned of taking recourse to further agitation in case the Government fails to consider its demands at the soonest possible.

The demands of the JAC include payment of ex-gratia to the bereaved family, providing a suitable Govt job to one of the family members and punishment of the guilty security personnel.
