Imphal, August 09: Normal business transaction at Khwairamband bazar came to a grinding halt today with the women vendors staging sit-in-protest demonstration and all the stalls in the market area remaining closed for the day to protest imposition of economic blockade on the NHs by ANSAM and the failure of the Government to bring about an amicable solution to end the present deadlock.

The sit-in-protest demonstration of the women vendors was held jointly under the aegis of Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat-Sagatpa Lup and Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham and Saktam Kanba Lup from 10 am to 4 pm.

Student leaders of AMSU, MSF and DESAM which have been exerting pressures on the Government for resolving the present deadlock also addressed the womenfolk highlighting the hardships being faced by the people and denouncing the indifferent attitude of the Government.
