Imphal, May 25 2010: The All Naga Students' Association, manipur (ANSAM) and Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) have alleged that State police personnel deployed at Senapati district areas assaulted several persons on May 24 .

While an ANSAM release issued by its vice president accused the State police of assaulting occupants of a Bolero, SDSA in a complaint letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner (Senapati) said seven individuals, including students, were harassed and physically assaulted by personnel of State forces posted at the Taphou post of 9th manipur Rifles from 7 pm till late night of May 24.Insisting that IRB and commando personnel deployed in Senapati district be withdrawn as the local people no feel safe in their presence, ANSAM apart from assaulting occupants of the Bolero jeep belonging to Phuba baptist Church Pastor number plate of the vehicle was destroyed on the charge that Naga churches are supporting the NSCN to create problem in the state.

In its complaint letter, SDSA president drawing attention of the DC to the incident of seven persons assaulted at near Taphou post demanded that police commandos and IRB personnel be withdrawn from Senapati district failing which various forms of agitation would be launched with consent of the general public.

The seven persons, who are from Ningthoupham and Tumuyon Khullen villages, have been identified as BK Titus, PY Joseph, YK Reagan, YK Atho, BK Achung, YK Luckson and Elizah.

They were assaulted by the State forces on their way back home after work from Senapati district HQs, added SDSA president.
