Naga leaders Forum urge for peace

Imphal, June 06 2010: Stating that the past experiences in the course of the peoples' movement have shown that extremism has not added anything positive to the self respect and integrity of 'our people', the Naga Leaders Forum, Manipur has appealed to all concerned to desist from further destruction of public and private properties and to keep 'our sensibilities' in check and tackle every issue in a democractic approach for healthy and positive good of all concerned.

In a statement issued to the press today, the Naga Leaders' Forum said that the present posture has polarised and led to the hardening of stands further dividing the people into different groups.

"As elders and leaders of the Naga community in the State, we would not like to see oujr people further dividing in different groups, it said.

Significantly the statement bore the signatures of 12 prominent personalities from the Naga community, including three MLAs including the president of the MPCC (I), Gaikhangam.

The others who appended their signatures on the statetment included, former MLA RK Theko, former MLA A Aza, former MLA, AS Arthur, social worker L Benjamin, former MLA Francis Ngajokpa, former MLA D Korungthang, sitting MLA Khangthuanang Pammei, former MLA candidate AS Shimreiyo, PA Theko Social Worker, DD Thaisii, TD Minisrer, R Keishing social worker.
