Imphal, May 16, 2010: Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Tengnoupal block has urged the general public to extend co-operation in restoring peace and harmony in the State.

Speaking to reporters at its office, KSO Tengnoupal President Thangboi Lhung-dim said that Khoibu villagers of Khangsim village of Chandel district fled their homes on May 10 owing to an uproar raised by some people of Kakching in protest against the economic blockade being clamped along the two National Highways and Muivah's proposed visit.

Maintaining that the present imbroglio must not be taken as a communal tension, the President observed that all the communities of the State must work together to bring normalcy.

He added that KSO Tengnoupal has opened a relief camp at Tengnoupal PHC and providing shelter to 19 of the villagers who fled their village that day.

The President also extended gratitude to 29 Assam Rifles for providing ration to the villagers.

He also urged the State Government to take up necessary step so that the displaced villagers may return to their respective homes.

He also appealed the Government to provide necessary relief materials to the victims.
