Imphal, August 07 2010: With reference to the sojourn of a Ministerial team to Senapati district headquarters today, All Naga Students' Association said 'the unwelcomed visit of the ministerial team of Manipur State to Tahamzam (Senapati) today was greeted by the Naga people with a lightning bandh.

A Publicity Wing release of the Association stated that people responded to the visit with the closure of all shops and establishments and complete halt of vehicular and pedestrian movement.

Informing that student volunteers blocked the highway, burnt rubber tyres in the middle of the town and also put up placards at different spots reminding the ministerial team that the Nagas' area is no more under the Manipur map, the release asserted that the boycott was reminder that Nagas will meet the Government of india, only.

Iterating that there is no change in the stance of the nagas holding Govt of Manipur responsible for the brutal killing of Chakho and Loshuo at Mao Gate on May 6 for deployment of IRB and commando personnel was ordered by the State Cabinet, the student body said UNC and other Naga organisations refused to meet the team led by 'communal Manipur Ministers' since the Nagas have severed political ties with the Govt of Manipur.

Pointing out that August 1 session of Naga People's Convention had resolved to entertain intervention by the Govt of india for an alternative arrangement, the Publicity Wing release said members of the ministerial team were seen meeting a few district level officers in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner.
