Imphal, June 23: The man who was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Khongyam Awang Leikai under Sugnu Police Station yesterday morning has been identified as the chief of Zoukhonuom village under Chakpikarong police station of Chandel district.

The slain chief identified as T Khamkhanpao (50) s/o Siankhohao had reportedly gone to participate in a meeting of the chiefs of Sugnu area on June 21.Zoukhonuon village is located some distance from Sajik Tampak and Khamkhanpao also worked as the postman of Sajik Tampak area.

After post mortem the body was handed to family members.
