Imphal, March 27: Taking serious note of the multiple killings of civilians including women during the five days of Yaoshang festival, the Women Action for Development (WAD) has strongly condemned the killings.

A press release issued by WAD termed the killings and indiscriminate firing at public places like Thabal Chongba venues as crimes against humanity.

Decrying the failure of the security forces to safeguard the lives of civilians despite their huge number deployed in the State, WAD also appealed to all the non-State actors not to target civilians specially women and children.

It further cautioned both the State and non-State actors that the outcome of the breach of International Humanitarian Law (The Geneva Convention 1949) will be fatal.

Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) also condemned the killing of three youths at a Thaabal Chongba programme at Heirok part-I.The organisation also urged the concerned not to repeat the same in future.

All Manipur Nupi Marup, Thoubal district council and All India Students' Federation, Manipur State Council also condemned the killing in different press statements.
