Imphal, August 20: The proscribed PREPAK has condoled the demise of cadre, Pvt S Ibungo alias Togo (23) of Naorem Leikai who died while launching an attack at the post of 7 Assam Rifles at Kumbi Setapur on August 18 at about 10.35 pm.

In a statement, self styled secretary in charge of the department of publicity and propaganda of the outfit, Aheiba Angom said that on the fateful evening a team of the Red Army Unit II, CO launched an attack at the AR camp and fired numerous rockets towards the southern side of the camp leading to a huge blaze.

Togo passed away due to a technical problem with the RPG launcher, said the outfit and added that if the mishap had not occurred the AR camp would have been reduced to cinders.

Levelling a series of charges against the security forces, the outfit said that the attack on team of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles on August 17, which seriously injured one personnel was launched by the Cobra Task Force under the command of Bobby Mangang.

The attack was launched at a spot in between Tokpa and Upokpi in Bishnupur district.

Stating that the attack at the 4/8 GR as well as at the AR camp were launched to avenge the excesses of the security forces, the statement charged that on June 11 a combined team of Bishnupur police commandos and 15 JKLI picked up Sgt Maj L Sekharjit alias Sanjoy of Bishenpur Ward number 7 and after subjecting him to severe torture shot him dead.

Accusing the security forces of further excesses the outfit claimed that while the 7 AR was posted at Sangang it picked up an over ground worker of PREPAK, Joy alias Ebaimacha from Wangoo last year in June and after shooting him pushed into a river to drown.

After the 7 AR moved to Setapur its personnel picked up Pvt Mairenbam Open of Moirang Mairenbam Leikai and another civilian on July 18 this year in the wee hours and later shot them dead at Arong Nongmaikhong.

The again on August 3 at about 3.30 pm the 7 AR personnel picked up Corporal Takhellambam Hemanta alias Premachouba of Salankonjin Maning Leikai and Lance Corporal Chingkham Herojit alias Johny of Tera Khonsangbi from a truck near Wapokpi Lai Lampak and after lining them up shot them dead.

It was avenge the excesses of the security forces that PREPAK has launched a series of strikes against them, said the statement and added that this also shows that it can strike any time, anywhere it wants.

The outfit also urged the public not to go near the post of any security forces and asked all not to set up their posts in among civilian areas.
