Imphal, July 20 2010: People of Nambol while resolving to make NH-53 as the lifeline of the state today urged the government to take up improvement works of the highway on war footing.

The resolution was passed by a public meeting held Nambol Bazar, organised by Development Protection United Voluntary Organisation, Nambol.

Yumnam Nabakishore, retired Additional Director (Agriculture) and Chongtham Ongbi Ibechaobi, social worker adorned the dais as presidium members.

Leaders of meira paibis, clubs, associations, individuals from Nambol area took part in the meeting and passed a number of resolutions.

Among others the meeting resolved to make NH-53 as primary highway of the state, to urge government to develop the highway on war footing.

Establishment of a highway protection force and to extend supports to the efforts of Transporters and Drivers' Council, Manipur to develop the highway were also resolved in the meeting.
