Three of five slain CTF cadres identified

Imphal, September 10: Identities of three out of five Cobra Task force cadres of the proscribed PREPAK killed yesterday in an encounter with a combined team of security forces at Ngakra Pat in Loktak Lake have been established.

Among those identified include one Sagolsem Joykumar Meitei (35) s/o (L) S Kokuchand actually hailing from Langmeidong Lamlai but presently a resident of Lamphel Sanakeithel, near Fishery Gate.

Joykumar is informed to be husband of the female PREPAK cadre namely Akham ningol Helen (31) who was injured in yesterday's encounter.

Helen had reportedly told security forces at near the encounter site that she was there to purchase fish.

Insisting that she was unaware of Joykumar's connection with any armed organisation, the victim's mother Yumshang Devi however informed that his son had not been at home in the past four months.

Helen has three daughters and son, according to Yumshang.

The other two victims identified today are Okram Basanta alias Pamjaba (25) s/o O Mangi of Langthabal Mamang Leikai and Nongthonbam Roshan (23) s/o Biramangol of langthabal Kunja Awang leikai.

Families members disclosed of Basanta joining the PREPAK organisation some six years back while Roshan left home and joined the same group three years ago.

Both the bodies have been claimed by family members on completion of post mortem at RIMS morgue today.

Meanwhile, the person shot dead by Thoubal police commandos at Charangpat Nepra Company Lamkhai of Thoubal district yesterday afternoon has been identified as one Khaidem Singhajit alias Awangba (29) s/o (L) Manglem of Sugnu Turel Wangma Napat.

For about 5/6 years Singhajit was staying at a rented quarter in Uripok Sorbon Thingel and had been arrested by security forces on charges of being KCP recruiter, said family sources and added that he was released from jail about a week back.

Singhajit had been missing since yesterday morning after he was called out by two red-colour motor-cycle borne individuals.

The body has also been handed over to family members.

identity has also been established of the individual slain by troops of 31 Assam Rifles at New Sijang village close to the Indo-Myanmar border on September 7 night.

The deceased is said to be one Heikrujam Amarjit alias Daboo (23) s/o (L) Ibohal of Ucheckon Yubraj Palli.

Amarjit reportedly left home about one and half year back to join UNLF organisation.

His body has also been handed over to family members.
