The decision to start the indefinite unto death was taken by an emergency meeting of the party held at 1 pm at its office after thoroughly discussed the suffering of the people of the state owing to the prolong imposition of economic blockade on the highways and inaction on the part of the state and Central government even though the people are at the limit of their woes, president of the party, Dr Nimaichand Luwang announced after the meeting.

While announcing the party decision, Nimaichand also highlighted suffering of the people like farmers unable to get diesel for tilling their fields and non-availability of fertilizers and impact on the day to day earners due to non-availability of rice in the market.

He also demanded Centre's intervention in preventing Th Muivah from roaming round at various places in Nagaland bordering areas of Manipur to build up tensions among the people of two states.

Centre had withdrawn permission given to Muivah to visit the state after knowing the motive behind his visit but he is still intending to enter the state by anyhow.
