Devdas to be shown at Hojai

Imphal, January 29: The third Manipuri National Convention on Manipuri Identity organized by NESCOCOMI was inaugurated today at the Dakshin Hojai High School campus, Hojai Nowgong, Assam.

O Ibobi Chief Minister of Manipur and N Nandamohon former Chairman of NESCOCOMI were the Chief Guest and the Presient respectively.

Dr Chaltonlien Amo Health minister Health, Md Maniruddin Sheikh MOS Education, Francis Ngajokpa GAD minister, Gaikhangam Works minister, N Biren MLA were also present.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a statue of Paona Brajabashi at the Geeta mandir, Hojai.

Addressing the huge gathering O Ibobi said all the Manipuris living inside or outside the state of Manipur should unite under one umbrella.

Every Manipuri should fight for the protection for the boundary and the integrity of Manipur.

No one could challenge our boundary he said.

Manipur is a pluralistic society just like India where 30 communities live under one umbrella.

A sum of Rs 5.5 lakhs were sanctioned for the construction of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad.

Delegates from most part of the state of Assam and neighboring places have come to attend the convention.

The Organizing Committee of the Festival of Manipur 2,303 today said all the cultural items except Devdas has reached Imphal safely after the successful organization oft the festival at Guwahati Kala Khstra and SOS Children village.

The artistes of Devdas Shumang Leela group today left for Hojai to present their play.

At Assam the Culture minister of Assam and other dignitaries appreciated the festival.

The performance of Devdas was lauded by all as excellent.
