Imphal, November 09: The State Government has convened a special Cabinet meeting tomorrow at 8 am to discuss the situation arising out of the kidnapping of GAD Minister Francis Ngajokpa's daughter Luningla Elizabeth.

The decision to convene the special Cabinet meeting was taken during a meeting of the SPF's Steering Committee held today to discuss the law and order situation in Manipur arising out of the kidnapping of the child.

Speaking to The Sangai Express a well placed source said that to ensure the safety of the child, the Chief Minister mooted the idea of easing the search operations launched all over Imphal to trace Elizabeth.

The Steering Committee also took strong exception against the kidnapping and condemned the act unanimously.

The Chief Minister expressed apprehension that the intense rescue operations being mounted may jeopardizes the live and safety of the young girl, said the source.

Apart for discussing the deteriorating law and order situation and the recent spurt of abduction cases including Government employees, the meeting discussed the measures that may be taken up to tighten the security arrangements.

The meeting also discussed on the need to keep the security personnel more alert to face any eventualities, added the source.

Meanwhile protests against the kidnapping are continuing unabated with women folks staging sit-in-protests all over the capital city and elsewhere.

As part of the mass protest undertaken by different organizations of the State, Khwai Nagamapal Paonam Leikai Meira Paibi Lup staged a sit in protest at the Khwai Nagamapal footpath from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.

All shops and vendors in the area downed shutters during the sit in protest.

Members of Kongpal Laihiden Lamjing Meira Paibi Women's Welfare Association, Meira Paibis of Wangkhei Meihoupham, Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Meira Paibis of Tera Akham Leikai, Tera Loukrakpam Leikai Meira Paibi Lup and women vendors of Tera Keithel also organised sit in protests at Kongpal Laihiden, Wangkhei Meihoupham Lampak, Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Tera Keithel respectively.

Meanwhile, the Ideal Club located at Sagolband Tera Keithel besides appealing for the safe release of Lungnila Elizabeth has also appealed to all the organizations and clubs to abstain from organizing any sort of entertainment programmes until and unless something concrete is known about the kidnapped girl.
