Noted woman leader Ima Memchoubi no more

Influential woman activist Longjam Memchoubi breathed her last at Shija Hospital at Langol due to multiple organ failure, today.
She was 84 and the president of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) .
A resident of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, the woman activist left behind three sons and two daughters.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, advisor to PLMPAM Khundrakpam Indu said that Ima Memchoubi was at the forefront in different movements of Manipur.
She said that the woman activist took part in the current crisis in Manipur despite her age while she was alive.
Saying that Ima Memchoubi was at PLMPAM since its formation in 1985, Indu shared the pain and sorrow of the bereaved family.
President of the United People's Front (UPF), Manipur Nongthongbam Rupachandra has also mourned the demise of Ima Memchoubi.
Saying that the woman activist played the central role in removing AFSPA from certain parts of Manipur, Rupachandra said that Ima Memchoubi took part in the current movement against the separate administration demand of Kukis while she was alive too.
He prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) also condoled the demise of Ima Memchoubi.
In its message, the MSF said that L Memchoubi was the president of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur and she fought to bring about an egalitarian society and to keep the unity and integrity of Manipur intact during her lifetime.
The woman activist also stood against all forms of crime against women and violation of human rights, the Federation said and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
