"Let Rachel's death not go in vain"

Expressing sorrow on the demise of MCS Officer Rachel N Guite who died at Raj Medicity on December 17 five days after giving birth to two child at Suba Hospital, sister-in-law of the deceased, Florence N Lowe wished that Rachel's death would not go in vain.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club here today, Florence N Lowe who works as a Chief Operation Officer at 'Synerzip', a USA-based private firm that deals with computer software, said that he came to Manipur to seek help from the people to get justice not only for Rachel but for all the women, men, wives and husbands and their children of the State, who died tragic and unavoidable deaths.
She said that Rachel died on December 17 at around 11.44 am, five days after giving birth to two child – Daniel Manggoulian Guite and Rachel Rualzarkim Guite.
Rachel also leaves behind her husband Paukhanmang and their 8-year-old daughter Ruth Chhungthianhoih Guite.
Florence Lowe said that Rachel loved her work and was passionate about the State of Manipur.
She said that she wants journalists and police to investigate not just the circumstances of Rachel's death but also to look into the pattern of sudden and avoidable deaths either due to negligence or lack of proper facilities at various private medical facilities in the State.
She said that doctors, nurses and medical administrative staff working in the healthcare providers in the State to hold themselves accountable to the 'Hippocratic Oath' and to a high standard of medical care.
The people of Manipur do not deserve anything less than what the citizens of the most advanced countries of the world expect as their right, she added.
She also called upon Health & Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar to introduce a Bill in an emergency Session of Manipur Legislative Assembly for the reformation of health and medical facilities in the State to hold high standard of medical licenses.
She also called upon the Chief Minister to support not only her brother and the little children Rachel left behind but also throw weight behind changes which can benefit all the Manipuris.
