Imphal, September 28 2019: Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) observed 19th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, here, today.

Addressing the gathering, AMKIL president, Ph Sakhi Leima said that the programme was organised to commemorate the massive rally took out by the people on September 28, 2000 and continued that the volunteers of AMKIL are ready to 'sacrifice' their lives if the need arises.

Recalling the incident of September 28, 2000, United Committee Manipur president, Sunil Karam expressed grave concern that the threat to disintegrate the State still persists.

Following the commencement of the peace talk between NSCN-IM and Government of India in 1997, several CSOs alongwith the public have been raising dissenting voices, organising different rallies and protests urging the Government of India to safeguard the unity and integrity of the State, Sunil said.

Recalling the incident of June 18, 2001, wherein 18 lives were lost, Sunil asked all to be vigilant and prepared as the 'threat on State's unity and integrity is still a reality'.

Scrapping of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcation of the State into two Union Territories has sparked fear in the minds of the people of North East States, he said.

"As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advised peace talk interlocutor Nagaland Governor RN Ravi to finalise the Framework Agreement by October, it is time we prepare for the worst," Sunil said.

NIPCO president Th Manihar, who also attended the event, said that the recent statement made by NSCN-IM secretary, Thuingaleng Muivah on Naga's separate flag and Constitution is concerning.

Manihar asserted that the people of Manipur have no say in the internal affairs of Nagaland, however, it should not affect the integrity and boundary of Manipur under any circumstances.
