Food mela and free health camp held under Rashtriya Poshan Maah

Autonomous District Council (ADC) Chandel in collaboration with Tribals Affairs and Hills Department, GoM organised a one-day "Tribal Food Mela and Free Health Camp" under Rashtriya Poshan Maah which is also known as 'National Nutrition Month' at Indoor Stadium, Japhou Bazar in Chandel District on Saturday.
The occasion was graced by executive member of ADC Chandel Kanlun Anal and Deputy Commissioner Chandel Krishna Kumar as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively while Chief Executive Officer ADC Chandel Ksh Siddharth, Inspector of School Tk Moshipha and AAO of Agriculture Roni Roel shared the dais as dignitaries.

While delivering the welcome and keynote address, Ksh Siddharth CEO Chandel stated that the Government of India launched POSHAN (Prime Minister Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment) Abhiyaan in 2018 to address malnutrition challenges in India.
POSHAN Maah 2019 aims to improve coverage of beneficiaries with health and nutrition awareness campaigns, Siddharth maintained and asserted that it intends to increase visibility of nutrition among mothers of young children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women, family members and service providers.
Speaking at the occasion DC Krishna Kumar stressed on the need to make people aware of the various schemes given to the citizens by the Government.
He appealed all the Government officials to give awareness to the public about such schemes.
Regarding 'Swachata Hi Seva', DC said nation would ban the use of single use plastic from October 2.He appealed all to use reusable plastic and paper made items.
As part of the programme, a free health camp and Anaemia detection for the school children were held where over 300 students availed the medical benefits.
ADC members, staffs of Food Safety Department, village chiefs, women folks and Anganwadi workers took part in the mela.
