Imphal, September 28 2019: Altogether 1,02,000 numbers of YABA/World is Yours tablets weighing 11 Kgs approximately which are worth more than Rs 2 crore have been seized by Meghalaya Police from an oil tanker travelling from Imphal to Guwahati.

The particular oil tanker was one among many empty oil tankers which left Imphal along Imphal-Jiribam highway with CRPF escorts in a convoy yesterday.

The empty oil tankers proceeded further from Jiribam without security escorts.

On the other hand, a joint team of 12 Assam Rifles and CDO Moreh seized WY tablets worth around Rs 59 lakh yesterday evening.

The joint team checked an Eeco Van at Khudengthabi check post along Imphal-Moreh road and recovered a total of 19,700 pieces of WY tablets from a woman travelling in the van, reports our correspondent.

The woman has been identified as Sony Khongsai (30) of Moreh ward no 9 .

The woman along with the drugs were handed over to Moreh police for further necessary action.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Bishnupur commando and Moirang police arrested a 60 year old man with 5 kg of opium from Kwakta Khuman ward no 4 today evening.

The man has been identified as Md Abdulhei.

Acting on a specific information about the presence of a drug peddler in Kwakta area, the joint team rushed to the area and arrested Abdulhei along with the drugs.

The opium was concealed in four packets of Everyday milk powder and one tea (leaves) packet inside a black colour plastic bag.

The person along with the drugs was handed over to Moirang PS for necessary legal action.

According to a press release issued by East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat SP Vivekanand Singh, one oil tanker travelling from Imphal to Guwahati was intercepted at around 5.15 am today at Khliehriat police station.

On checking the tanker, 1,02,000 WY tablets were found concealed inside it.

The driver and the helper have been arrested but their names and particulars are not being disclosed in the interest of investigation, said the SP.

Moreover, one night super bus bearing registration number AS-01-E-2956 travelling from Silchar to Guwahati was intercepted at Khliehriat police station at around 12.25 am today and thorough checking was conducted.

During checking, three soap boxes containing approximately 30.63 grams of Heroin were recovered from a bag belonging to one person.

In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation is going on.

The person (owner of the bag) has been arrested but his name and particulars is not being disclosed in the interest of investigation, conveyed the SP.

Further, another night super bus bearing registration number AS-24-C-9998 travelling from Silchar to Guwahati was intercepted at Khliehriat police station at around 2.15 am.

On checking the bus, three soap boxes containing approximately 18 Kgs of Ganja were recovered from bags belonging to three persons.

In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation is going on.

All three persons have been arrested but their names and particulars are not being disclosed in the interest of investigation, added the SP .
