Indian Red Cross Society Manipur provides artificial limbs

Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur has taken up a Physical Rehabilitation Programme (PRP) under the sponsorship of International Council of Red Cross (ICRC) which aimed at reaching out to people who need artificial limbs fitting.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, Dr Y Mohen, secretary Indian Red Cross Society Manipur, said that so far the society has provided artificial limbs to a total of 34 people under the PRP.
The programme (PRP) was first taken up in the year 2015 and provided artificial limbs to 14 people, he said.
This year IRCS Manipur provided 20 artificial limbs and the artificial limbs fitting were done for free of costs, he added.
Urging the authorities and individual concerned to identify a workshop based in Imphal for the artificial limbs fitting, Mohen said that the materials will be provided for free of costs by the International Council of Red Cross (ICRC) .
Pointing out that such a facility in the State will ease the burden and inconveniences of many who need and travel outside the State for artificial limbs fitting, he identified RIMS and JNIMS as suitable places for setting up the facilities.
The programme will cover more people in the coming years, he said.
