Imphal, December 13 2018:
Sagolband United (SU) were able to seal a thrilling 2-1 win over Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) coming back from one goal down in the 52nd match of the 12th Manipur State League today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The match (50') scheduled earlier between FC Zalen and Muvanlai Athletics was not Conducted as the first team did not turn up.
The second match of the day between SU and TRAU saw the former dominate the possession keeping the ball inside TRAU's half for a major portion of first half but failed to break into rivals' box to create on goal attempts except few distant shots.
TRAU which were lagging in the possession, however enjoyed better scoring chances mostly in counters and tease the SU keeper on few occasions with some close attempts though it proved too blunt to open up the scoring.
Eventually, the first half ended goalless.
TRAU which were struggling together to put up a show in the first half entered into the field with more purpose after the lemon break and start taking control of the game cleverly using the flanks.
Soon TRAU forwards were poured into SU's half and it was in the 73rd minute that Meiraba jump high to connect a throw in from the left flank and headed in to break the silence and put TRAU ahead with a 1-0 lead.
The game came very much alive after the goal as TRAU were looking forward to extend the lead while SU were attempting to put in the equaliser.
The game however shifted towards SU favour in the late stage as TRAU's spirit seemed to fade away.
After few unsuccessful attempts SU finally got the reward of their consistency in the form of an equaliser with Kh Tajuddin taking the shot after a beautiful team effort that started from the midfield.
TRAU also replied back with some runs but were stonewalled by SU defence line up denying any chance of regaining the lead.
It was an end to end affairs for the last few minutes but the Sagolband side were able to go home with full points with Milan Laishram beating the TRAU's keeper after a goalmouth melee just one minute before the end of normal time.
Wungramchung of TRAU (7'), SU's Samid Sandeep (32') and Angousana Luwang were yellow carded by the referee.
