On the occasion, Geetchandra Mangang, secretary-general CADA, claimed that many individuals who were arrested for smuggling drugs into the State escaped punishment because the powerful people sided with them.

They used every possible means like tempering/spoiling samples to prove innocence by colluding with powerful people, he said and added that pursuing such unprincipled acts by ignoring the efforts of all stakeholders to curb the menace of drugs is very unfortunate.

Though the State Government had announced a programme "Nisha Thadoklasi", no tangible actions have been taken to save the State from addiction and other drugs related issues, he said and demanded the State Government to formulate a drug-related policy at the earliest.
