NE rebel groups ban I-Day celebrations

Seven rebel groups based in the North East region namely; Hynniutrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), KCP, Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT) and People's Democratic Council of Karbilongri (PDCK) have banned India's Independence Day celebrations in the region apart from calling a total shutdown in the region for 12 hours from 6 am to 6 pm of August 15.A joint statement issued by the seven militant groups conveyed that religious activities and emergency services would be exempted from the purview of the total shutdown.
The WESEA (Western South East Asia) region, which is now popularly known as the North East region of India, is a colony of mainland India, pure but veiled, it alleged.
In reality, India, like the pre-revolution Russia, is a prison-house of Nations and peoples.
She is an aberrant country, where the Hindi-speaking heartland allegedly colonizes the rimland peripheries.
The ultimate aim of the mainland Indian State is assimilation of the rimland peoples through gradual dilution and eventual obliteration of the racially, linguistically, and culturally distinct identities of peripheral colonial peoples.
To the mainland Indians, this act is nothing but benign National integration; but to the rimland colonies, it is perilous national annihilation, the rebel outfits alleged.
The issues of CAB (the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019) and deprivation, partition and demotion of Kashmir are vivid examples of outward manifestation of the firm resolve of mainland Indian leaders to exterminate the alleged colonial peoples.
Promotion of migration and legalization of immigration are demographic tools of bloodless genocide of the rimland region.
Partition and demotion of Kashmir is a direct and ostentatious affront to the proud Kashmiris, who have never accepted the alleged Indian colonialism.
The intent is to make a dent in the indomitable spirit of the defiant Kashmiri public who refuse to succumb to decades of unrestrained violence perpetrated by Indian forces.
On the other hand, India intends to threaten other peripheral peoples and to forewarn them against any form of resistance to Indian occupation, it said.
The arrogance shown recently to the Kashmiri people is a product of muscular Hindutva Nationalism, an ultra-pure form of fascism.
The political slogan of this type of fascism is "Hindu-Hindi-Hindustan", it further alleged.
The ultimate objective of this Nationalism is total homogenization of all the peoples of Hindustan; but for the peripheral peoples, it is tantamount to National demolition.
Now Kashmir is being destroyed and WESEA is not far behind.
Saying that Punjab, southern India, Bengal, Odissa and others will come later, it asked, "What shall we do now – succumb or resist?" Resistance is the right thing to do, the outfits asserted.
In such a pitiable situation prevailing in WESEA region, to participate in State-sponsored Indian 'Independence Day' celebration is a mockery of the word, independence itself.
It is also a cruel joke, they remarked.
The function of such celebration is to fool the rimland peoples by creating false consciousness of being Indians, it added.
Meanwhile, the UPRFM too has called a 17 hours total shutdown throughout Kangleipak (Manipur) from 1 am to 6 pm of August 15.A press release issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary L Rolin alias Thoupangba Meitei appealed to all the people to cease all daily activities and stay indoors on August 15.However, medical services, other emergency services, religious functions and media would not be covered by the total shutdown, it added.
