Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, November 10 2024: ESU, PTCC and KASC emerged the victors in Sunday's league matches of the 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Trophy.

ESU produced a lethal bowling attack to claim a commanding 10-wicket win over CDCC at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong (Lamshang) .

Leading ESU's bowling attack was Yumkham Yoirelba, who delivered a match-defining spell, taking five wickets and helping to dismiss CDCC for a mere 58 runs in 18.4 overs.

Yoirelba's remarkable performance was well-supported by Hanjabam Naoba Sharma, who claimed two wickets, with Soibam Venus Singh and Hanjabam Donba Sharma taking one wicket each, collectively mounting a lethal assault on CDCC's lineup.

For CDCC, Imran Khan (10 not out) and Wasim Khan (10) were the only players to reach double digits, contributing modestly to a lacklustre innings.

ESU openers Hanjabam Donba Sharma (22 not out) and Soibam Sayonba Singh (29 not out) swiftly chased down the 59-run target in just 4.4 overs, cementing their team's comprehensive win.

PTCC vs SU

At Lairenjam Public Ground, PTCC emerged victorious in a close-fought encounter, edging out SU by eight runs.

After electing to bat, PTCC posted 157/4 in their allotted 35 overs.

PolenjitMayengbam anchored the innings with an unbeaten 62, supported by contributions from Ningombam Roberson Singh (33), Harishor Mayngbam (14), Roneljit Ayekpam (13), and Dhirendakishore Naorem (2) .

On SU's side, Keisham Yaikhomba led the bowling effort with two wickets, while David Keisham picked up one.

In their chase, SU displayed resilience, batting through all 35 overs but ultimately falling short at 149 runs.

Despite strong individual performances from Keisham Anderson (48), Keisham Yaikhomba (24), and Philan Rajkumar (21), SU could not reach the target.

PTCC's bowling lineup held steady under pressure, with Devas Singh Tongbram taking two wickets.

Hirachandra Laitonjam, Roneljit Ayekpam, and Lanngamba Ningombam each took one wicket, sealing PTCC's narrow victory.

KASC vs YWC

KASC recorded a three-wicket win over YWC at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-Ill Cherapur, Thoubal.

Opting to bat first, YWC struggled against KASC's disciplined bowling attack, managing only 91 runs before being bowled out in 20.4 overs.

YWC's innings was largely sustained by Seram Tondonsana, who top-scored with 33 in an otherwise subdued lineup.

Leishangkhong Maqubul Fida Ali was the standout performer, delivering a sensational spell that yielded six wickets, effectively dismantling YWC's batting order.

Syed Ashif provided additional support with three wickets, and Md Abdulgani contributed with one, setting KASC up for a manageable chase.

In pursuit of 92, KASC took a steady approach, reaching the target in 22.3 overs but losing seven wickets along the way.

Syed Ashif (17), Mujamin (14), and Md Abdulgani (11 not out) led the scoring efforts for KASC, with support from Mdalfash (10), Mohammad Sakif Hussain (3), Jaheer (1), and Md Ruhal (1) .

For YWC, Yumnam Athouba, Yunnan Barightson, and Yunam Achouba each claimed two wickets, while Yumnam Sushil added one, but their efforts were insufficient to prevent defeat.
