1st MNCA U-14 boys Tournament : ESU, TRAU post emphatic wins

Imphal, July 30 2022: H Naoba powered ESU to 10 wicket win against PCC as TRAU thumped YPHU by 8 wickets in the ongoing MNCA U-14 Boys tournament group B encounters.

PCC won the toss and elected to bat first here at PCC ground.

They however had a disastrous outing as ESU bundled them out for a paltry total of 84 runs in 21 overs and the Wangkhei team chased down the target within 11.5 overs with no loss.

It were, Hanjabam Naoba (3/4 iti 3 overs), Bishomcha Khundrakpam (3/21 in 4 overs) and Soibam Venus (2/28 in 6 overs) who ripped through the PCC batting line up today.

Pravin Kumar with 19 runs in his name was the highest run getter for the team followed by Lamnganba Nongmaithem (13) as the other batters fell cheaply including three on ducks.

In the chase, Hanjabam Naoba smashed 35 and Hanjabam Donba added 40 runs to help ESU post a winning total of 85 runs as PCC bowlers failed to find the breakthrough.

Naoba was eventually named man of the match.

Elsewhere at PTRC ground, TRAU rode on Mutum Swabhiman's unbeaten half century and three wicket haul to seal an 8 wicket win over YPHU, Lalambung.

YPHU were toss winners and opted to bat first, but their innings came to a crashing end after 27.1 overs with 165 runs on the board.

Birbal Irom topscored with 40 runs followed by Amrendra Prasad Gupta (33), Bisai Ningombam (29) and Irungbam Tonton (21) to give YPHU early hope, but Mutum Swabhiman (3/31 in 6 overs), Laksh Ngangom (3/25 in 6 overs) and Indrakumar Singh Sanjenbam (2/27) rattled the batting line up to close out the innings.

Needing 166 for the win, TRAU started positively and reached the target in 24 overs as M Swabhiman struck 10 fours and a six on the way to his unbeaten 69 after.

Huiningsungbam Luching was also unbeaten on (5) .

Earlier, Laksh Ngangom and Indrakumar Sanjenbam had respectively added 27 and 18 runs.

Swabhiman who enjoyed a three wicket haul and shone with an unbeaten knock of 69 runs was adjudged man of the match.
