YC, CYLC capture State Basketball C'ship titles

Imphal, August 10 2025: Youth Club and CYLC stamped their authority on the court, overpower ing Model Club in both the sub-junior and junior boys' finals to be crowned champions at the 38th State Sub-Junior and 15th State Junior Basketball Championships, held at Brahmapur Nahabam on Sunday.

In the sub-junior boys' final, Youth Club outclassed Model Club 82-59 .

Youth Club came out firing from the opening tip, racing to a 26-15 first-quarter lead behind quick transitions and tight defence.

They kept up the pressure in the second period, edging it 23-16 to hold a 49-31 cushion at half-time.

Model Club struggled to find a way back as Youth Club controlled the third quarter 23-11, effectively putting the game out of reach at 72-42 .

The final frame saw Youth Club finish the job in style with a 21-6 blitz, sealing an emphatic 82-59 championship victory.

CYLC, meanwhile, won the junior boys' event with a commanding 75-50 triumph over Model Club.

CYLC set the tone early, taking a 15-8 first-quarter advantage through disciplined ball movement and aggressive rebounding.

They stepped on the gas in the second period, dominating 24-11 to head into the break with a commanding 39-19 lead.

Model Club fought back after the interval, narrowly taking the third quarter 16 15, but CYLC quickly reasserted control.

In the fourth, they closed out the game with a 21-15 run, clinching a comfortable 75-50 win and the junior boys' crown.
