Imphal, October 21 2021: Churachandpur Battalion of HQ IGAR (S) distributed sports items to youth of Mateijang under Tuning area, Sangaikot sub-division to promote 'Khelo India' as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on Thursday.

In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that an interaction with the youth was carried out during which the importance of participating and career opportunities in the field of sports as coaches and physical trainers were shared with them.

The efforts undertaken by the Assam Rifles in organising such events and assistance being provided to nurture the sports culture prevalent in the spirit of Manipur was deeply appreciated, the PRO said.

On the other hand, a team of Loktak Battalion of IGAR (S) played a friendly seven-a-side football match with youth of Nachou village in Bishnupur district on Thursday.

The match was conducted to promote anti-drug campaign and culture of healthy living amongst the youth, said the PRO in another release, adding that villagers and youth club expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles for providing assistance and their efforts in promoting the noble cause.
