CC Meet: AMOFA drub ASSA, KIYC upstage MCK, F4C get walkover

Imphal, February 14 2022: AMOFA (Moirang) swept aside ASSA (Sangaiyumpham) 3-0 as KIYC (Kshetrigao) relied on L Gouro's heroics to seal a 3-1 win over MCK (Kabowakching) in the 63rd CC Meet on Monday.

AMOFA had to dig deep for their opener as they faced a stiff resistance from ASSA in the early stages of the match.

After sweated it out for gruelling 41 minutes, the Moirang squad finally broke through their opponents to set up K Newton to drill home their first goal.

Buoyed by their successful effort in the latter part of the first half, AMOFA chose to go on the offensive with relentless action upfront and it paid off.

They gained further ground in the 64th minute after H Johnson found space to bury the ball in the back of the net.

ASSA's forward looked clueless in front of their target.

They did make a couple of threatening moves at the other end but they lacked the finishing touch.

And things got beyond ASSA's control when H Romen tripled the lead for AMOFA with an 88th-minute strike.

L Gouro scored a hat-trick to steer KIYC to a convincing 3-1 victory against MCK in the other match.

KIYC were in action mode from the word go and it took 20 minutes for Gouro to open the scoring.

After his 20th-minute opener, Gouro was at it again in a matter of six minutes when he drove the ball into the roof of the net.

Gouro was a constant threat for the opposition in the second period as well as MCK's defence struggled to deal with his moves.

And the game was beyond doubt for KIYC when Gouro completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute.

Three minutes later, MCK finally found a goal in the 68th minute through M Malemnganba but that proved to be their only goal of the match.

F4C (Saikul), meanwhile, earned all three points without kicking a ball as withdrawal of their Monday's opponents AFC (Thoubal Athokpam) from the tournament: worked to their benefit.

AFC pulled out of the CC Meet after-one of the club's officials tested positive for Covid-19 on February 13 .

Subsequently, they sought permission to withdraw from the tournament and their request was accepted by AMFA; resulting in F4C getting a walkover with a score of 3-0 .
