KYA's Ward Wise Sports meet concludes

Kanggui, January 31 2014 : The 10th Annual Ward Wise Sports Meet, 2014 organised by Keithelmanbi Youth Association (KYA), Sadar Hills concluded today along with celebration of KYA Day in the noon session and KYA Beauty Pageant Contest in the evening session.

The noon session was attended by Chungkhokai Doungel, Ex-Finance Minister, Govt.of Manipur as Chief Guest while Ngahchong Kipgen, ZEO Kangpokpi and Tongpao Lhouvum, Chairman Keithelmanbi VA as Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.

The noon session was marked by displayed of various Kuki cultural dances from all the eleven wards.

Apart from Paotinlun Chongloi, MDC, ADC Sadar Hills who attended the noon session as Special Invitees, several civil bodies leaders, local Church leaders were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Lunsieh Kipgen, IPS, who graced the evening session as Chief Guest, pointed out that assuming weapons only for killing or destruction would be wrong because bombs, Guns and other weapons are mean for controlling law and order to ensure peaceful and secure environment.

The IPS officer continued that every weapon holder, legally or illegally, should value and honour the real purpose of weapons and use them to bring peace and tranquillity.

Miss Chongsaheikim Chongloi of Ward No.8 was crowned Miss KYA 2014 while Miss Lamnunkim Singsit of Ward No.5 and Miss Nengkhanching Sitlhou of Ward No.8 were crowned 1st and 2nd Runner-up respectively from among 24 contestants.

Winner of Miss KYA tiara was given a cash reward of Rs.10,000 while the 1st and the 2nd runner up got Rs.5,000 and Rs.3,000 respectively.

Hoineithem Kipgen of Ward No.5 was also declared Fashion Queen and was awarded Rs.2,000 with a crown.

Prizes for 11 sub-titles were also presented to the winners.

Ward No.8 won the championship title in men's football and Volleyball while Ward No.4 in women's football.

Ward No.9 won the championship title in women's volleyball.

Simon of Ward No.8(A) bagged the top scorer award, Lenminsang of Ward No.6(A) the Best Defender award while Thangjoy of W/No.4(A) was adjusted as Best Player of meet and Thonglam of W/No.as the Best Goal Keeper.

The night session was also attended by Benny Touthang, Special Contractor as Guest of Honour while N.Kipgen, IFS as Chief Host.

Zamuan Thangzom, Lamminlian Vaiphei, MSC for PCR, Maneithangza Kipgen, Laxmikanta Singh and Zen Gangte attended as Special Invitees in the evening session which witnessed performances by various Kuki artistes including Maneithangza, Lovejoy, Collin and Kakai as well as popular Manipuri film actor Guna.
