Manipur off to strong start with 3 gold at National Track Cycling C'ships

Imphal, December 12 2022: Manipur won three gold medals, coupled with two silver on the second day of the 74th Senior, 51st Junior & 37th Sub Junior National Track Cycling Championships 2022 at Guwahati, Assam.

The state trio of M Wattaba Meitei, N Max and Tarun-kumari Thokchom claimed top podium honours in their respective events to help Manipur start their medal campaign on a high note on Monday.

M Wattaba secured his gold medal in the sub-junior boys' 500m time trial event, clocking 35.542 in a one-two finish by Manipur with fellow W Bidyananda (35.863) coming off second best for the silver medal.

N Max, on the other hand, shone in the youth boys' 500m time trial.

He was fastest with a time of 36.890 for his gold medal.

Tarunkumari clocked 41.906 to clinch her gold medal in the youth girls' 500m time trial contest.

Manipur also bagged another silver medal in the junior women's 500m time trial event courtesy of H Premika Chanu (39.408) .
