JSYC clinch Mangboi Memorial Cup Title

Jamsat Songtun Youth Club (JSYC), Sadar Hills clinched the title of the Seventh Edition of Mangboi Memorial Cup, 2015 Open Football Tournament on Thursday defeating Chaljang Youth Club 4-0 at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi.
The closing ceremony of the tournament organized by Sadar Hills District Sports Association from November 23 was graced by Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills as Chief Guest while Lunkhohen Haokip and Lamkholen Kipgen, both Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills attended as Guest of Honour and President respectively in the presence of Chongpu Kipgen, Chief Executive Officer, SHADC, Kangpokpi.

In the final match, played after the inspection of players by the dignitaries, JSYC Sadar Hills led the first half of the match by 1 goal though Thangtinlen in the 35th minute of the match.
In the second half.
Lamjakai and Thangjahao added another two goals in 54 and 77 minutes before Thangtinlen scored again in the 80 minutes of the game.
In the third place match played before the final match, Leimakhong Bazar Youth Club blanked Football Club Ninou 5-4 via tie break after both the team failed to score in the regulation time.
Champion of the tournament JSYC Sadar Hills has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 with a running trophy while the runner up, Chaljang YC were awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 with Cup's Shield.
Second Runner up Leimakhong Bazar YC and fourth placed FC Ninou were awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
Lamgou of Modi Memorial Team, Hengbung with 5 goals bagged the top scorer award of the tournament.
The tournament is annually organized in remembrance of Late Mangboi Kipgen, the then Defense Secretary of a SoO group Kuki National Front (KNF) who had been allegedly killed by State commandos on December 20, 2005, said one member who sponsored the tournament.
He also alleged that Mangboi was excitedly returning from New Delhi after signing the SoO Agreement with the Centre Government to meet with his people, family, wife, children and his party when the state commandos waylaid and killed him.
He further said that Manipur state Government still remains silent on the killing of Mangboi and justice is yet to be delivered.
"The Kuki people will always remember him and the injustice done by the state commandos upon him", he asserted while adding that the tournament has been organized as a mark of seeking justice from the State Government.
