41st CSDSA Sports Meet Football : Cheengkhu FC, Khubong Khunou FC and Phungchung YC move into last 16 stage

Imphal, January 10 2022: Cheengkhu FC, Khubong Khunou FC and Phungchung YC defeated their respective rivals to move into the last 16 stage of the 41st Chakpikarong Sub-Division Sporting Association Annual Sports Meet football being underway at Chakpikarong playground.

Cheengkhu FC edged out Chakpikarong YC by 2-1 goals to secure the last 16 round berth thanks to second half goals by Angkesh (55') and Chana (58') .

The lone goal for the Chakpikarong YC was scored by Kophmon in the 57th minute.

Later in the second match of the day, Khubong Khunou FC beat Rungchang Young Star 4-2 via penalties after a 2-2 draw during normal time.

Phungtha (6') and Thongni (27') scored it for the winning side during the normal time while Vescount (14') and Damhring (43') were the scorers for Rungchang Young Star in this neck and neck encounter.

Khubong Khunou FC will now play Cheengkhu FC in the last 16 stage of the tournament on January 16 .

Meanwhile in the third and last match of the day, Phungchung YC edged out Lambung YC by 2-1 goals.

Phungchung YC were 1-0 ahead after Sr Denny found the back of the net in the 15th minute.

Lambung YCC however made their way back into the game with Phungam scoring the equalizer in the 31st minute.

As the competition was wide open after the equalizer, the two sides toiled hard to find the lead until Salemni helped Phungchung YC retain the lead in the 46th minute.

Phungchung YC then held on to their lead to secure the last 16 stage berth.
