MSL: SU, KIYC, MPSC grind out wins

SU (Sagolband), KIYC (Kshetrigao) and MPSC (Police HQ) all prevailed in tight matches in the 14th Manipur State League on Sunday at Turf Ground, Lamlong.
SU started the day with a 2-1 success against NEROCA FC (Sangakpham) in a Group A meeting.
The Sagolband side started with a bang when C Seilenlal buried the ball in the back of the net after eight minutes.
A tight tussle ensued that saw some squandered chances from both squads.
SU maintained their lead through the halftime whistle.
After the restart, NEROCA clawed their way back from a 1-0 deficit to restore parity through Manglenthang who scored the equaliser in the 55th minute.
Paokhongam regained SU's lead in the 75th minute and the Sagolband team went on to earn all three points.
KIYC, meanwhile, carved out a slender 1-0 victory over TRAU FC (Kwakeithel) in another Group A contest.
It was Musha Khan's 47th-minute goal that proved to be the match winner.
In a Group B match, MPSC outdid NISA (Thangmeiband) in a seven-goal thriller as Haokhosei starred in the police team's triumph.
MPSC started off with a 13th minute opener from Khem BK and they were two goals ahead when Haokhosei converted in the 34th minute before NISA halved the deficit in the 37th minute through L Shangker and Meiraba put the Thangmeiband side on level terms with a 56th-minute effort.
The police team, however, retook the lead in the 75th minute courtesy of Ajitkumar and they further stretched their advantage in the 89th minute with Haokhosei on target.
NISA managed to score their third goal in the 90th minute through P Anand but it was too late.
On Tuesday, Muvanlai Athletics play UKB, DMRAO face YUFC, and GSC take on SSU.
